70’s Rugby Camp Apparel Collection

Problem Statement
Develop a summer rugby apparel collection that celebrates the 50th anniversary of women’s rugby in the United States while capturing the energy and identity of the women’s rugby community.

Constraints
The collection needed to reference the historical roots of women’s rugby in the U.S. while remaining contemporary and wearable. Designs had to translate effectively to apparel production and function as a cohesive seasonal collection.

Intentional Decisions
Inspired by the origins of women’s rugby in 1972, I drew from 1970s visual culture as well as photos from real women’s rugby teams in the 70s to shape the creative direction. I developed the Rugby Summer Camp Collection, a retro-inspired series that blends 70s aesthetics with modern apparel design. Through color, typography, and graphic elements, I created a playful yet intentional visual language that honors the decade the sport began while appealing to today’s athletes.

Measurable Results
The collection successfully commemorated a milestone moment in women’s rugby and resonated with the community, strengthening brand engagement and seasonal product interest.

For this collection I planned out a photo and video shoot that followed theme. We used a local park to get these amazing shots, so the customers felt immursed in a 70s summer camp.
